Jesus sent His disciples out on a mission. Has He sent you?
耶稣差遣门徒去执行一项使命。祂差遣你了吗?

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, He will call you to His mission. The Christian life is not just receiving blessings from God and then doing whatever you would like with your blessed life. The Christian life is a life of exciting mission following Jesus.

如果你是耶稣基督的门徒,祂会呼召你去开展祂的使命。基督徒的生活不只是从神领受祝福,然后随心所欲挥霍这蒙福的生活。 基督徒的生活是令人兴奋的使命,是追随耶稣的生活。

In Matthew chapter ten, Jesus sends His disciples off to a mission on their own. He has great confidence in them to do this important work. He gives them clear instruction and great encouragement and then sends them on their way to do the work of the Father.

在马太福音第10章,耶稣差遣门徒去独立开展祂的使命。祂对门徒执行这项使命充满信心。祂发出清晰的指令,大大鼓励他们,然后就差他们出发去开展父神的伟大使命。

Jesus continues to send His disciples off on missions today. The torch has been passed to you and to me to continue the great mission of Jesus Christ in our world. The instructions and encouragement Jesus gave His 12 disciples in Matthew ten are passed to us today. Are you willing to head out on this mission?

今天耶稣依然持续差遣祂的门徒去开展自己的使命。火炬传到你我的手中,我们要继续在世上开展耶稣基督的使命。祂在马太福音第10章中给12个门徒的指令和鼓励在今天传给了我们。你愿意出发执行这项使命吗?

There are seven main points to Jesus’ instruction and encouragement that we can follow today:
在耶稣的指令和鼓励中,有7项要点今天我们可以遵循:

1. Jesus calls, authorizes and sends you
2. You are to proclaim the truth of the Kingdom of God and bring God’s healing
3. Go where God sends you
4. Don’t let worldly cares hold you back, God will provide
5. Be on your guard, be ready for persecution
6. Don’t be afraid but be bold. When persecution comes, God will take care of you
7. Give your life away to God, and He will give you true life

1. 耶稣呼召、赋予权柄并差遣你
2. 你要宣扬神国的真理并带来神的医治

Consider your own life now, have you embraced the call from Jesus? Have you been sent out by Him to proclaim His message and meet the needs of the world around you?

想想自己目前的生活,你接受耶稣的呼召了吗?祂差遣你去宣扬祂的信息,去满足身边世界的需要了吗?

Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

Jesus calls, authorizes and sends you
耶稣呼召、赋予权柄并差遣你

The brilliant and inspired idea for this mission was not the disciples’. It was Jesus’ grand idea. He called them to Himself and then He gave them a necessary and precious gift: authority. Authority is the power to influence. Jesus did not have them go out in their own authority, but He sent them in His.

此项使命并非使徒们灵机一动的绝妙主意,它是耶稣的伟大想法。耶稣呼召并赐给他们必要且珍贵的恩赐:权柄。权柄是影响力。耶稣差遣门徒出去,不是奉门徒自己的权柄,而是奉耶稣的权柄。

Has Jesus called you to follow Him? Have you submitted yourself to Him and His call? As you submit yourself to Jesus as your Master, He will send you with His authority on His mission.

You are to proclaim the truth of the Kingdom of God and bring God’s healing
你要宣扬神国的真理,带来神的医治

Jesus was clear on the purpose of this mission. To proclaim the truth of His Kingdom and to bring physical and spiritual healing to the sick. We have been entrusted with the truth of His Kingdom. There is salvation in Jesus alone and the hope of eternal life forever with Him. In your words, actions and life, you are to proclaim this message of salvation. This message looks ahead to our future in heaven. Jesus also calls us to address the present pain in this world. Physical and spiritual sickness can be healed in His name. We bring this gift of healing through our faith and prayers for others. We do not have some special magical power in us to heal people, but God is the healer who works through us as we by faith pray on behalf of those sick around us.

耶稣这项使命的目标十分明确—-宣扬神国的真理并医治身体和灵里有病的人。神国的真理被托付给我们。唯在耶稣里才有救恩,永恒生命的盼望也在于耶稣。要透过自己的言语、行动和生命来宣扬救恩的信息。这信息展望我们在天国的未来。耶稣也呼召我们解决当今世界上的痛苦。奉祂的名可以医治身体和灵里的疾病。藉者信心和代祷我们可以带来医治,并不是我们拥有特别的能力能医治人。神是医治者,透过我们凭信为身边生病的人代祷,他进行医治。

Proclaiming the Good News of God’s Kingdom goes hand in hand with addressing the pains people bear today. When we stop to meet someone in their pain and offer to pray for them, this can open a door to the heart through which Jesus brings His eternal gift of salvation. When was the last time you participated in Jesus’ mission by praying for a family member or friend in person?

宣扬神国的好消息与解决人们遭受的痛苦要齐头并进。在人们痛苦时,我们停下来为他们祷告,这能使他们将心门打开,而耶稣能透过这扇门赐下永恒救恩。你最后一次参与耶稣的使命,当面为家人或朋友祷告是在什么时候?

Many years ago, I was challenged by a church leader to pray for 100 people face-to-face. A friend of mine and I decided to take up the challenge. Every day I would look for someone to pray for. A friend, a coworker, a waitress at a restaurant or cashier at the check-out of the grocery store. At times I felt uncomfortable or nervous, but it stretched my faith and led to many wonderful conversations about the Lord. Often tears came revealing the deep heart needs of those all around me. I will confess that I never made it to 100 people. I kept a list of those I prayed for and I think I reached about 75. Maybe it is time for me to answer this call to once again pray for those I meet each day. What would Jesus do through us if we all took this step of faith to proclaim His Kingdom and pray for healing and salvation?

多年前有位教会领袖鼓励我面对面为100个人祷告。我和一位朋友决定接受这个挑战。我每天寻找一次为人祷告的机会—-朋友、同事、餐馆的女服务员或者是食品店的收银员。有时我会觉得不舒服或者紧张,但这样的祷告挑战我的信心,也多次引发关于主的精彩讨论。常常滚落的泪水显示人们内心深处的需要。我得承认我祷告过的人从来没有达到100位。 我保存过曾经祷告过的人的名单,大约有75人吧。也许现在该再次接受这个呼召,为每天遇到的人祷告。假如我们都迈出这信心的一步来宣扬祂的国并祈求医治和救恩,那么耶稣能透过我们成就些什么呢?

Go where God sends you
去神所差派之地

Jesus gave specific instructions on exactly where the disciples were to take His message: to their fellow Jews, not to the Gentiles. Let’s be clear, Jesus loved the Gentiles too and later sent His message to them. But at this moment in time, with this group of disciples, He had a focused mission: go to the Jews. This was their mission field. Years later Paul boldly took the message to the Gentiles, this was His mission field.

耶稣发出清晰的指令,要门徒具体去哪里宣扬祂的信息:向他们的同胞犹太人,而不是外邦人。有一点要澄清,耶稣也爱外邦人,后来把祂的信息也传给了他们。但在时间长河的那一刻,对于这些门徒,祂有一个特别的使命:到犹太人中去。这是他们开展使命的地方。多年后保罗英勇地把福音传给外邦人,那是他开展使命的地方。

What is the mission field He has called you to? To what specific group of people in what particular location are you to carry God’s message? Your family, friends and coworkers? Have you been called to a different city or different country? Ask God where He is sending you and respond!

神呼召你到什么地方执行祂的使命?你要把神的好消息传向哪个地方的哪个人群?是你的家人,朋友和同事吗?神呼召你到异乡他方吗?求问神他要差遣你到什么地方,然后采取行动!

When I was young, I had dreams of going to Africa. When I was in my early 30’s I was all set to fulfill my dreams by moving to East Africa. But at the last minute, the plans were changed, and I moved to Eastern Europe. And then I moved even further east – to China! I learned to be flexible and follow His plans over my own plans. I want to continue to be flexible and listen and follow where He sends me!

年轻时我曾梦想远涉非洲。30出头时,我准备好实现自己的梦想,要移居东非。但最后一刻,计划发生改变,我搬到东欧。接着再向西迁移—到中国!我学会变通,学会放弃自己的计划而跟随祂的计划。我依然愿意变通,愿意聆听并跟随,到祂差遣我的任何地方!

“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.”

Don’t let worldly cares hold you back, God will provide
莫让世间思虑羁绊你,神必供应

On this mission trip, Jesus told the disciples to not bring anything with them. It seems that this might have been a part of a faith-building exercise. Later on, Jesus sends them out again and tells them to bring supplies with them. Sometimes Jesus sends His disciples with nothing and asks them to live by faith, other times He has them prepare what they need. In either case, you can go forward trusting that God will provide for you all of your earthly needs. He can provide the money, food and shelter that you need for His mission.

在这次使命旅途中,耶稣吩咐门徒们随身不要带任何装备。这似乎是操练建立信心的一部分。过后,耶稣再次差派他们时就吩咐他们要带上装备。差遣门徒时,耶稣有时让他们空手而去,要求他们凭信而活。但有时祂则要求他们自备所需。无论那种情况,你都可以勇往直前,相信耶稣会供应一切属世的需要。祂能供给完成使命所需用的金钱、食物和住所。

Many times, in my life I have had to depend on God’s provision for me. He has used generous people, surprise jobs, even unexpected low prices to provide for me all that I need. Every time I depend on Him, my faith grows and I am so thankful!

在我的生命中,有很多次都需要依靠神的供给。祂透过人的慷慨解囊、意想不到的工作,甚至透过出乎意料的优惠价格来供给我需用的一切!每当我依靠祂,信心就会增长,就会充满感恩!

Be on your guard, be ready for persecution
要警醒,预备好遭受逼迫

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. “The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household! “So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn “ ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’”

I don’t think Jesus was trying to scare His disciples with these words, rather, He was preparing them for what was ahead. He didn’t try to get them to “buy in” to the mission by telling them how wonderful and exciting life would be following Him. No, He was realistic and told them the truth: following Jesus is not easy. There are enemies along the way. So be on your guard, be ready. Don’t be surprised when opposition comes. This is a part of the life of faith.

我不认为耶稣说这番话是要吓唬祂的门徒,反而,祂在预备他们面对将要发生的一切。祂不是通过告诉他们跟随祂的生活会如何精彩和令人兴奋而使他们“买账”来追随自己。不,祂实事求是地告诉他们真相:跟随基督并非易事。路途中会有敌人。所以要警醒,做好准备。当逼迫来临时不要吃惊。这是信心生活的一部分。

Don’t be afraid, but be bold. When persecution comes, God will take care of you.
不要惧怕,要勇敢。逼迫临到时,神会看顾你。

The good news is, when the persecution comes, the Holy Spirit will be with you to guide you and even use you to boldly proclaim His message wherever you go. You do not need to be afraid; God cares for you and values you. He will protect you and lead you through persecution. The key is to rely on God, follow Jesus and do not be afraid.

好消息是在逼迫临到时,圣灵会与你同在并指引你,甚至会使用你随处宣扬祂的信息。你无需惧怕。神顾念你,重视你。祂会保护并带领你度过逼迫。关键是要依靠神,跟随耶稣,无所畏惧。

Give your life away to God, and He will give you true life
将生命奉献给神,祂会赐给你真正的生命

“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it. Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever welcomes a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.”

爱父母过于爱我的,不配作我的门徒;爱儿女过于爱我的,不配作我的门徒;不背着他的十字架跟从我的,也不配作我的门徒。得着生命的,将要失丧生命;为我失丧生命的,将要得着生命。”“人接待你们,就是接待我;接待我,就是接待那差我来的。人因为先知的名接待先知,必得先知所得的赏赐;人因为义人的名接待义人,必得义人所得的赏赐。无论何人,因为门徒的名,只把一杯凉水给这小子里的一个喝,我实在告诉你们,这人不能不得赏赐。”

Can you think of any better life than following Jesus, the one who made you and forgave you? The one who created the universe and loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Jesus calls us to love Him higher than anything else in this world. He asks us to give Him our life, surrendering our plans, ideas, comforts, hopes and dreams and exchange them for His magnificent plan. He highly esteems those He sends. Imagine – the people who welcome and serve God’s messengers, prophets, and righteous ones will be rewarded!

跟随耶稣–创造并饶恕你的那一位,还有比这更好的生活吗?创造宇宙万物的那一位,祂爱你,为你的一生制定了美好的计划。耶稣呼召我们要爱祂超过这世上的一切。祂要我们将生命献给祂,放下自己的计划、想法、舒适、希望和梦想,而代之以祂宏伟的计划。祂珍视所差派的人。想象一下,神会报答那些迎接并服侍神的使者、先知和义人的人!

Are you one who will give your life away to God to use as He sees best? If you give your life away, you have a promise from Jesus that you will find true life in Him. You have just one life to live on this earth. How will you live it? For yourself and your own aspirations? Or following Jesus Christ wherever He leads?

你会将生命献给神由祂来使用吗?你若舍去生命,就会拥有耶稣的应许,会在祂里面找到真正的生命。在世上你只能活一次。你将如何度过此生?为了自己和自己的渴望?还是要跟随耶稣到祂所引领之处?
