Is Jesus the true king of your life?

Lame accusations
站不住脚的控告
The religious leaders continue their tactic of accusation. But their efforts fall flat. They cannot move Jesus and they do not convince Pilate.
宗教领袖们继续控告的伎俩，却徒劳无功。他们无法撼动耶稣，也无法使彼拉多信服。
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.

Standing literally between the highest offices in government and religious life, Jesus answers only one question: “Are you the king of the Jews?” This is His true identity; He responds to this truth but had no need to defend Himself against lies thus remaining silent. Both Pilate and the Jewish leaders realize that the accusations against Jesus were worthless. Pilate tries to get out of this mess and the religious leaders try another tactic: persuasion.
站在最高宗教领袖和政府官员之间，耶稣只回答了一个问题：“你是犹太人的王吗？”这是祂的真实身份。祂回应这个真理却不需要辩驳那些谎言，所以祂沉默不语。彼拉多和犹太领袖都意识到对耶稣的控告毫无价值。彼拉多想要从这乱糟糟的局面中抽身出来，宗教领袖们则试图采用另一个诡计：劝说。
Persuasion of the crowd in the absence of evidence

Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus Barabbas. So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him. While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.” But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered. “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”

马太福音27:15-23
As Pilate sits on the official judgement seat, Jesus is declared innocent by two witnesses: Pilate and his wife. The religious leaders do not give up their fight and they switch to persuasion. They see that Pilate is faltering and they jump into action to persuade the crowd to call for the crucifixion of Jesus. Only days earlier, the crowd hailed Jesus as King. Now they are swayed and call for His execution.
彼拉多坐在审判席上。有两个见证人宣布耶稣无罪：彼拉多和他妻子。宗教领袖没有放弃斗争，他们转而采用劝说的诡计。他们看到彼拉多摇摆不定，就赶紧行动起来，劝说百姓们来要求把耶稣钉十字架。就在几天前，这群百姓拥护耶稣做王。现在他们转身一变，要求处死祂。
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

Ruthless mockery

The King of Kings is childishly mocked by those He created.

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

Accusation, persuasion, mockery. Jesus is bearing attack from multiple angles. These are all tactics of the liar Satan.

Jesus as King: The robe, rod, crown, pronouncement
耶稣是王：袍子、杖、王冠和宣告
Immediately following Pilate’s death sentence, Jesus is presented with a robe, a rod and a crown and is pronounced King of the Jews by the mocking soldiers. These soldiers had no intention to bow before King Jesus. Their game was to elevate themselves into a position of power and authority, not to honor the King of Kings.
彼拉多宣判耶稣死刑后，戏弄耶稣的士兵立刻给了祂一件袍子、一根杖和一个王冠，他们宣称祂是犹太人的王。这些士兵无意在耶稣面前屈身下拜。他们的把戏是要抬高自己的位置，显示权力和权柄，而不是要尊荣万王之王。
As true followers of King Jesus, we honor Him and bow before Him with reverence. We know He wears a robe bearing His name. He is crowned with glory and honor and on His head rests many crowns. He will rule with an iron scepter in His hand. The Lord God Himself makes a pronouncement that His kingship shall have no end.

The True Pronouncement
真正的宣告
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
