At the end of Genesis chapter 2, all is as it should be. Man and woman – God’s beloved creation – were placed in God’s amazing Garden. They had purpose, creativity, wonderful food, companionship from each other and God. And, they also had boundaries. They were not to eat from one tree: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The consequence was clear: DEATH. Adam and his wife were both naked and they felt no shame. This was a perfect world as God intended. Purpose, creativity, companionship, pleasure, home. However, things were about to change.

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Temptation
试探

Then the temptation came. The serpent was crafty. He did not go to Adam. The serpent went to Eve. She heard the rules from Adam, not directly from God. But Adam was near her at the fateful moment; as soon as she ate the fruit, he followed her. And in an instant everything changed. Death entered the Garden which was so full of life. As written in 1 Corinthians 15:21, “ … death came through a man … ”

接着，试探来了。蛇非常狡猾。他没有去找亚当，而是去找夏娃。夏娃从亚当那里得知那条规定，而不是神直接告诉她的。但在那个决定命运的时刻，亚当就在她身边，夏娃一吃那果子，紧接着他也吃了。瞬间，一切都变了。死亡开始进入这个充满生机的园子。正如哥林多前书 15章21节所写“死既是因一人而来…..。

How did this happen? How could this woman and man who were living in the most content and dream-like life have been tempted to do the one thing God told them not to do? Even at the cost of death. The tricky serpent utilized half-truths to lead the woman to a lie and she fell for it. His opening line was a challenge she could not ignore.

这究竟是怎样发生的呢？这对夫妻过着最满足，如梦般的生活，怎么会被诱惑去做 神告诫他们不要做的事呢？甚至以死亡为代价。狡猾的蛇利用片面的事实诱导女人相信一个谎言，女人果真就上当了。蛇的开场白对夏娃而言是个无法忽略的挑战。

The tempter deliberately grabbed her attention with his incorrect statement (he said ANY tree). She caught the error and told the truth. She even added, “She couldn’t even touch the tree.” She stated the consequence: death. She very clearly understood.

试探者故意用错误的观点抓住了女人的注意力-它说所有的树。夏娃指出了错误，并说出了事实。她甚至补充道“也不可摸那棵树”。并说出了后果：会死。她完全明白神的命令。

The woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat fruit from the trees in the Garden, but God did say, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the Garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.”

Then the serpent went a step further and reasoned with her which put doubt in her mind. It was true – if she ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil – her eyes would be opened. He agreed with her on this point. But linked to his agreement with her was a lie.

蛇进一步和她理论，以叫她心里产生疑惑。假如她吃了分别善恶树上的果子，她的眼睛会变得明亮，这是真的。蛇和女人都同意这一点，但与此有关的却是个谎言。

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

The serpent twisted God’s words and brought doubt into the woman’s mind. A bit of truth mixed in with the lie that there will be no consequence for her. Then she made a fatal mistake: she considered the fruit. She took a good look at it. She pictured herself eating the fruit and thought about the wisdom she could gain.

蛇扭曲 神的话语，故意让女人心里产生疑惑。谎言里掺杂了一点事实，说她不会有什么后果。然后夏娃就犯了一个致命的错误：她开始留意、打量那个果子。想象自己吃着果子，得到智慧的样子。

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

于是，女人见那棵树的果子好作食物，也悦人的眼目，且是可喜爱的，能使人有智慧，就摘下果子来吃了；又给她丈夫，她丈夫也吃了。

When the woman looked at the fruit, three things happened. Her flesh – her physical longings and desires – saw the fruit was good for food. That fruit was going to taste good. Her eyes saw the fruit was pleasing and her own pride saw the fruit was desirable for gaining wisdom. Wisdom, according to the serpent, would make her like God. And with those desires, she took a bite.

当女人看着那果子时，发生了三件事情。她的肉体-身体的渴望和内心的欲望–见那果子好作食物。果子会很好吃！她的眼睛看到那果子悦人眼目，她自己的骄傲使她看到那个果子能使人有智慧，按蛇说的是能使人像 神一样的智慧！因着这些欲望，她就咬了一口果子。

The temptation of eating the forbidden fruit pulled at the woman in three areas of her life:

吃禁果的试探是从女人生命的三个方面牵绊住她的:

1. The flesh – her physical desires
2. The eye – she saw something attractive she wanted
3. Pride – she wanted a kind of wisdom which would raise her status to that of God.

 

1. 肉体-她身体的欲望
2. 眼目-她看到很有吸引力的东西就想得到
3. 骄傲-她想要一种智慧，能使她上升到神的地位

Maybe you have found yourself in the same situation as the woman. Your physical desires drew you to do something you knew was not right. Your eyes saw something which led you down a path away from God. Your pride caused you to think of yourself first above God or others. These are the cravings in the world we are tempted with even today. Temptation pulls at us in these areas and when we give in, it is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life. Yuck. This does not sound like a satisfying beautiful fruit; it actually sounds pretty ugly.

也许你发现自己跟这个女人的处境一样。你肉体的欲望驱使你去做一些你明知不对的事情。你的眼睛看到一些会使你偏离神道路的事物。你的骄傲致使你把自已放在首位，高于神或众人。即使在现今，我们也会被世上这些欲望所试探。当我们屈服时，诱惑会从肉体的情欲、眼目的情欲和今生的骄傲这些方面绊倒我们。这根本不像是令人满意的好果子，反倒听起来令人厌恶。

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world.

1 John 2:15-16 NIV

 

不要爱世界和世界上的事。人若爱世界，爱父的心就不在他里面了。因为凡世界上的事，就像肉体的情欲，眼目的情欲，并今生的骄傲，都不是从父来的，乃是从世界来的。

This is exactly what happened to the woman. The lust of her flesh saw that the food was going to be good to eat, even if God said to not eat the food. The lust of her eyes caused her to see something beautiful she had to have and the boastful pride of life in her was excited about becoming just like God. Unfortunately， temptations continue to battle against us in these three areas today.

这正是发生在女人身上的事情。肉体的情欲使她看到好吃的食物就会想吃，即使 神说过不可吃。眼目的情欲使她看到美好的东西就必须拥有，今生的骄傲使她兴奋地想要变得跟 神一样。不幸的是，直到今天，人类一直在这三个领域与试探作斗争。

Lust Of The Flesh
肉体的情欲

The lusts of the flesh are many and are acted out in many different ways – not just by eating a piece of fruit. Galatians gives us a terrible listing of some of the deeds of the flesh that are the results of giving in to the lust of the flesh.

肉体的情欲有很多种，通过许多不同的方式体现出来-不只是吃一个果子。加拉太书中列出了一长串糟糕的出于肉体的情欲，及其相应的后果。

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 NASB

 

情欲的事都是显而易见的，就如奸淫、污秽、邪荡、拜偶像、邪术、仇恨、争竞、忌恨、恼怒、结党、纷争、异端、嫉妒〔有古卷在此有“凶杀”二字〕、醉酒、荒宴等类，我从前告诉你们，现在又告诉你们，行这样事的人必不能承受 神的国。

加拉太书 5:19-21

Sexual sin, idolatry, anger, jealousy and drunkenness. This is an ugly picture. These are behaviors our flesh can crave after, yet each is against God’s laws. These are behaviors where the lust of the flesh can lead us.

奸淫、拜偶像、发怒、嫉妒和醉酒-这些画面丑陋不堪。这些行为是我们肉体所渴望的，但每一样都违背 神的律法。这些都是肉体的情欲会给我们带来的行为。

Lust Of The Eyes

Where our eyes are, so is our focus. We are to diligently turn our eyes to God and His ways, not the things of this world. Through our eyes we can read God’s Word or look at the wicked things in this world which can so easily be seen on the Internet, on TV, in the movies, in a magazine. Through our eyes we can look at things which are not ours to view.

我们的眼睛看哪里，我们所关注的东西就在哪里。我们应当殷勤仰望神和他的道，而不是这世上的事。我们能用眼睛读 神的话语，也能轻易从网络、电视、电影或杂志上看到许多属世的邪恶。我们透过眼睛会看到不该看的东西。

Boastful Pride
自夸的骄傲

And finally there is boastful pride in our life. The drive to elevate our self above others, above God. To do what we want when we want. The pride in us longs for people to recognize us and give us praise. The pride determines to make a name for our self and be thought of highly. In our pride, thoughts of ourselves push out thoughts of others and, more importantly, thoughts of God.

最后，我们的生命中有自夸的骄傲。这会驱使我们抬高自己在他人和 神之上。行事随心所欲。心里的这份骄傲会让我们渴望获得别人的关注和赞许，骄傲支配我们为自已赢得好名声，被人称赞，这种骄傲会让人只顾自已不顾别人，更重要的是，也不顾 神。

In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

All three of these worldly areas attracted the woman to the fruit. She believed the lie of the serpent. She did not trust in God’s rules, in fact she believed in the serpent’s words, not God’s. Adam did not stop her. He went along with her.

女人正是在这三个属世方面被那果子所吸引。她相信了蛇的谎言，没有信守 神的诫命，实际上，她相信了蛇的话，而不是 神的话。亚当非但没有阻止她，反而和她一起犯罪了。

The Progression Of Temptation
被试探的过程

Let us recap the progression of the destructive temptation which led to the first sin and let us take note so we can stop the power of temptation when it comes our way.

让我们回顾一下这个毁灭性的试探是如何引诱人犯下第一桩罪，让我们引以为戒，这样当试探临到时，我们就能够抵挡它。

Temptation – Step One
试探的第一步

The first move of the tempter was to question the truth. To twist the truth and bring confusion. Have you ever heard these questions in your mind when facing a temptation to sin?

试探的第一步就是质疑 神的话，扭曲事实制造疑惑。当你面临罪的试探时，脑海里是否出现过这些问题？

Is it really true I can’t do _______________ ?

Does God really want to deprive me of _______________ ?

Does God really want to keep me from being happy?

我真的不能做_______________吗？

神真的想夺走我的_____________?

神真的不想让我开心点吗？

If you have considered these things when facing a sin, beware. Temptation is trying to trick you. Don’t fall for this enticement. Go to God’s Word and answer these deceptive questions with God’s truth and then walk away from the temptation. Don’t continue the conversation. If the woman had answered the serpent with the truth (“God did not say that! ”) and then walked away the story would have ended very differently.

当你面对罪时如果也想过这几个问题，就当警惕了！试探正在试图欺骗你。别上当！回到 神的话语，以 神的真理来回击这些欺哄人的问题，然后远离这些试探，停止对话。如果当初女人能直接以 神真理的话语回答蛇的问题（ 神可没这么说！），然后坚定地离开，那么故事的结局会大不相同。

Temptation – Step Two
试探的第二步

But if we don’t walk away but begin a dialogue with the temptation like the woman did, then the next step temptation takes is to reason with us. The serpent hooked the woman into a conversation and his reasoning was crafty. He gave some pretty good reasons why the forbidden fruit would be good to eat.

如果我们不走开，还像女人那样继续跟这个试探对话，那么下一步的试探就是进行理性的辩论。蛇引诱女人与他对话，他陈明的道理很狡猾，他列举了许多吃这个果子的好处。

Have you ever thought, “Well, if I just do this once it won’t be too bad … ” was a kind of reasoning?

你有没有想过找这样的理由，“好吧，如果我只做一次，应该不会太糟吧…”？

Temptation – Step Three
试探的第三步

Once we start to reason, it is easy for a lie to sneak in such as, “No one will know I did this, no one really cares, I don’t think this really is such a bad sin, I can control it.”

一旦我们开始找理由，谎言就很容易悄悄进入我们的心思意念，比如“没人知道我这么做，也不会有人真的在意，我不认为这是一个严重的罪，我可以控制它。”

Temptation – Step Four
试探的第四步

And then the temptation rises to its most powerful level when the compulsion agrees with your own sinful desires. You really do want to commit a sinful act so it becomes easy for you to agree with the twisted truth, the reasoning and the lie of the temptation.

接着，当冲动契合你犯罪的欲望时，试探的威力是最大的。你真的想要做犯罪的事，因此你会轻易地认同扭曲的事实，以及充满诱惑的谎言和理由。

Here is the progression of temptation:

受试探的过程是：

1. The truth is questioned, twisted and confused
2. Good reasons to sin are introduced
3. Lies are added to the reasoning
4. The lies become convincing as they agree with our sinful desires

 

1. 真理被质疑、扭曲和混淆
2. 提出犯罪的恰当理由
3. 理由中添加谎言
4. 谎言因契合犯罪的欲望而变得让人信服

Avoid Temptations
避免试探

Jesus knows temptations will come. He says:

耶稣知道会有试探，因此他说：

Watch and pray so you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Matthew 26:41 NIV

 

总要儆醒祷告，免得入了迷惑，你们心灵固然愿意，肉体却软弱了。

Temptations lead to sin. Sin leads to consequences. Here a bleak picture is drawn of the progression of temptations which lead to sin which lead to consequences:

试探将人引向罪，罪会带来后果。以下经文描绘了这个过程的凄凉状况：

… but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

James 1:14-15 NIV

If there is something you find in your life which is a constant temptation for you, take the temptation seriously. Pray and even find a trusted Christian brother, sister or spiritual leader to pray with you. Ask him or her to check in with you periodically to see how you are doing in this area of your life. If you find yourself in sin, repent and even confess your sin to someone else (Christian brother, sister or spiritual leader).

如果你发现生命中有东西一直诱惑着你，那么就要重视了。要为此祷告，甚至请一位你信任的主内弟兄、姐妹或属灵长辈一起祷告。请他们定期与你联系，看看在你生命的这些方面进展如何。当你发现自己已经陷在罪里，要悔改，必要时甚至要向别人（主内弟兄、姊妹或属灵长辈）承认自已的罪。

If you have had this experience of temptation and sin, do not lose hope. God loves you and will forgive you. Through forgiveness He will set you free from the shame and fear. Come to God, confess your sin and ask for His forgiveness and do not hide from Him. In their shame and fear Adam and the woman hid from God. Today you do not need to hide. Forgiveness through Jesus Christ is for you. God’s Spirit is here to help you overcome sin and resist temptation.

如果你曾经历这样的试探和罪，别灰心失望。神爱你，也会饶恕你。神透过赦罪将你从羞愧和惧怕中解脱出来。来到神面前，承认你的罪，祈求神的饶恕，不要向神隐藏。亚当和女人正是因为羞愧和惧怕才躲着 神–今天你无须躲藏。借着耶稣基督而来的赦免，就是为你预备的，神的灵要帮助你胜过罪，抵制试探。
